Cheesemonger Invitational

Alex, owner of Vagabond Cheese, will be competing in the Cheesemonger Invitational for the second time. CMI, as we call it, is a semi annual competition of cheesemongers from around the United States. The challenges include a written test, cutting perfect 1/4, 1/3, and 1/2 lb pieces of cheese, a blind tasting, a salesmanship challenge, a cheese wrapping competition, and "the perfect bite," where cheesemongers must compose a perfect bite consisting of a cheese (not of their choosing) and any other foods they wish. Those mongers who make it to the finals face unknown challenges that lay just beyond the horizon.

Last time around, Alex made it to the final round and placed 4th; enough to earn a trip to visit the Cellars at Jasper Hill and Vermont Creamery in VT (stay tuned for pictures from that trip). This time, we're hoping that he bests his last go-around and brings home the gold.
